Philosophy
The rat race is hard, really hard. At calcrat.com, we think we can make things much easier. Our goal is to present things in a straightforward manner to help you get ahead with less work. The tenants of our philosophy include the following:
1. Never borrow money on depreciating assets: i.e. no borrow money for boats, clothing, drinking, etc.
2. Include risk in your financial decisionmaking.
3. Save 10% of your pretax income.
4. Try to understand how markets work and how you can play in them.
5. Avoid really bad decisions. Make small mistakes and learn from them.
6. Money and Work are a part of life, but only a part of life. Money should serve man (and women), man (and women) should not serve money. This one is a tough one for me, but I am getting there. Life comes first.
Our Conspiracy Theory: Inflation
We believe that inflation in the US is near the 10 percent mark, far above the two to three percent inflation that most economists and government officials would have you believe. This has drastic implications for GDP growth, wage expectations, and the financial stability of US households in the long-term.
